NDOG stands for National Dutch Oven Gathering. It's a gathering of folks who enjoy cooking in cast iron cookware known as Dutch ovens like those in the photo below. Sometimes Dutch ovens are referred to as "Black Pots" for somewhat obvious reasons. Dutch ovens are extremely versatile and were indispensable to the pioneers who settled these great United States.
Smaller Dutch Oven Gatherings, aka DOGs, take place all over the world and have been steadily growing in popularity. They are very FAMILY FRIENDLY events.
The National DOG was started over a decade ago as a premier event to gather folks from all over to share food, friendship, knowledge, and FUN. We see old friends and make new ones. We have friendly, though often serious, competitions, share favorite recipes and cooking tips and learn new skills. Above all, we share the camaraderie, fun and pioneering spirit of Dutch oven cooking.
At the National DOG, we invite people with exceptional skills to share their love of Dutch oven cooking through demonstrations and classes. These are unique opportunities to learn, whether you are a "newbie" or a seasoned veteran. If you happen to BE one of these people and would like to help, we would like to hear from you. Maybe we'll have a spot for you on the schedule! Simply click on the "Contact Us" button and send us a message.
If you are interested in having some fun and learning more about Dutch oven
cooking, you can't get a better opportunity than attending the National DOG is
